After a couple of days at Horseshoe Bay and enjoying some time ashore on Magnetic Island, we had a two-day window to get going southwards once again before the next southeaster comes in. We left early yesterday morning, Friday, to go 130 NM overnight to Airlie Beach. Conditions were quite good once the seas settled yesterday morning and the wind came round to the north. We managed to sail for about eight hours before it died off and it was back to motoring.
It was a good night passage with some cloud cover, no other traffic to worry about, and the moon rising some time after two o'clock.
We arrived here just after 6:00 a.m. The wind is still light from the north so it is pretty bumpy here at the moment but things will change early tomorrow when the southeaster comes in. Saturday farmers market gets underway this morning so we'll be off shortly to see what's on offer.
