Forecast northerlies seem to be avoiding us. We had light SSW winds during the night along with some drizzle for a few hours. Both dropped out though so we motored all the 133 NM from Howick to Marina Mirage in Port Douglas. We did have the engine off for a short time but less than two hours. The forecast is still for light NE winds so fingers crossed.
We arrived off the Low Islets about 5:30 this morning and were planning to drop anchor and have a sleep while waiting for the right tide to get in to Port Douglas. The anchorage seemed pretty full though so we just slowly motored the last 8 NM to give the tide a chance to come in a bit before we entered. We found the entrance was not too bad and the shallowest section was in the marina itself. We soon parted with lots of dollars as we refuelled once again and then went into our berth.
No rest for the wicked though. We took ourselves off to the supermarket to boost our provisions but as we were only on foot we ended up doing two trips using the shopping trolley to cart it all. We should be right now to probably get as far as Bundaberg, especially if the winds do the right thing.
So a very tiring couple of days and we are looking forward to a nice meal of mackerel and an early night.
