Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

We returned to the Peace Memorial Park to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.  We weren't particularly looking forward to it but it was something we wanted to do and one of the reasons for continuing on to Hiroshima.

The Peace Gates

The museum is laid out over two sections with the first section being more of a historical lead-up to WWII and the subsequent bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  The second section was much more emotive with displays of personal belongings of those who died, a lot of them children, and exhibits of damage inflicted by the bomb; roof tiles, steel shutters, etc.

8:15 a.m.: the time the bomb was dropped

Our visit was well worth it despite being very moving and saddening.
