A very uneventful passage to Tambuluran Point on Monday. No patrol boats to intercept us, not much wind, just a long day. After eighty-five nautical miles we dropped anchor in a bay on the southern side of Tambuluran Point just as the sun set. A light swell to gently rock us and the wind died out completely. A few lights ashore but not much movement, no moon but lots of stars. Position: 06* 49.406N, 116* 39.161E
After some good sleep we were both awake by 3:00 which meant we had plenty of time to get to Kota Kinabalu before dark. Weather files showed more light winds which would continue at least for the next few days, so more motoring. A vessel showing on our AIS about three miles off revealed itself as a patrol boat with very dim lighting. We could only just make it out through the binoculars in the starlight. It continued north though as we went south. We saw one more patrol boat later in the morning and two fighter jets flying over a bit later.
Another longish day of sixty-nine nautical miles and we arrived in Sutera Harbour Marina in Kota Kinabalu yesterday afternoon. The rebel invasion of Sabah was hardly a news item here. There seems to be more information today and we notice the rebels are now being called terrorists. Apparently this gives you the right to kill them.
We will stay here for a few days. Jon has been to see a doctor about his shoulder and has been told it is muscular and that it should respond to physiotherapy. He will probably do this when back in Miri.
