Four nights sheltered behind beautiful Candaraman Island as the winds continued to blow around 20 knots from the E-NE were very comfortable. The company of several other boats made it even more pleasant with one having to leave this morning for Kudat with windlass problems. The rest of us left to continue NE along the coast of Palawan. The wind was still about 15-20 knots but being inside the protection of islands and reefs to the east we had a good sail to get us underway and then as we had to come round into the NE we motor sailed the rest of the 25 NM through a deep channel, to the Cabugan Islands. Although they looked exposed on the chart and soundings indicated less than 5 metres, we came around into calm waters and anchored in 15 metres on mud. The wind seems to be easing slightly and predictions show that they should ease to 10-15 NE-E for tomorrow. But that's another day and whether we continue on to Rio Tuba tomorrow or stay another day, well, that's the dilemma of cruising.
