Another pre-dawn departure as we made our way past the fish farms and out of Port Matalvi in calm conditions. The slight wind we had kept us moving at a good speed though for a couple of hours before it flattened out to dead calm. This only lasted a short while until the NW 'seabreeze' came in. Unfortunately, for us it was a bit too northerly and as the strength built the waves and swell did as well. By 1:00 we were off Agno Bay which had a nice bit of shelter in the northern corner so after some consideration we decided to pull in there for the night. We dropped anchor in the flat waters at 16 deg 09.764N, 119 deg 45.857E.
It was not long before Alishan and Tweed were visited by young people coming out in bangkas. They were very friendly and polite and the second lot to visit us came with a live chicken on offer! We declined even though it was a fine looking bird and we also declined the offer of a monkey for a pet - we didn't see the monkey or find out what sort it was as they didn't bring it with them. The next lot had mangoes on offer - 200 pesos for a large crate! Well, we couldn't handle a whole crate but ended up with 7 for 100 pesos - the first offer was obviously better value. The next purchase was some fresh squid for 100 pesos a kilo which is about standard market price so we bought some of those as well. We could have continued with the buying but as we were less than 25 nautical miles from Bolinao and still stocked up from Subic it seemed a bit unnecessary. Invitations to visit them ashore were also declined as an early start tomorrow dictates another early night.
