The flat landscape entering the Rajang River
We entered the river just after 3:00 p.m. with plenty of time to find an anchoring spot 5-10 nautical miles up the river. The fishermen were already out in their fishing boats, crossing the river and setting their nets, the landscape was low and the river edged with mangroves. Fish farms came into view along with fishing villages. The sky was overcast but the weather calm. This was our first venture into this great river system and with a couple of weeks to spare we hoped to have an adventure of our own.
