Back in Phuket, we made arrangements in Yacht Haven Marina to have our badly worn, and now very leaky, teak decks removed. We will have the teak on the coachroof replaced with new teak but the side decks will be replaced with fibreglass and then fibreglass anti-skid sections which will all be sprayed with Gelcoat – parts of the boat should look like new again!! We have booked the work to start on 16 April, following the Buddhist festival of Songkran. So, watch this space some time in late June for news of the project.
So, our first two weeks in Phuket have gone very quickly with time taken for health checks, boat jobs, catching up with friends, shopping, and generally doing what we have to do on a daily basis before our visas expire on 14 March… whoops, plus one very exciting happening on 1 March when Erica arrives with her friend Nigel to spend nine days with us on Tweed.
